The Indian state of Uttarakhand has the town of Rishikesh in its Dehradun District. As of 2001, Rishikesh had 75,020 residents (53% men and 47% women). Situated on the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan Range and encircled by the Shivalik range, Rishikesh is 4,093 meters above sea level. Haridwar is 35 km away, Mussoorie is 90 km away, Jollygrant airport in Dehradun is 25 km away, and New Delhi is 240 km away from Rishikesh. Rishikesh boasts an amazing vista of hills covered in vegetation. The confluence of the Ganges and Chandrabhaga river is located at Rishikesh. The magnificent Ganges river, which flows swiftly across the entire city, is Rishikesh’s main draw.

Every year, Rishikesh hosts an international yoga festival that lasts for one week in March.
